Vinyl or Tiles

After diligently analyzing the present landscape, it wouldn't be difficult for us to assert that vinyl tiles in the form of Premium Resilient Flooring (PRF) by NBL, are taking over the industry and justifiably so. The age-old debate that compares the functionality and credibility of vinyl flooring against ceramic tiles can now be finally resolved. Before we get started, let us familiarize you with the fact that we have a clear winner, at least in this article and that is PRF. To help you understand our choice better, in the following section, we will weigh vinyl and tiles on four of the imperative parameters of flooring.

·      Ease of Instalment

When you are investing a hefty amount to fulfil your flooring needs, the last thing you would ever want is to get tangled in extensive and complicated methods of installation. Laying ceramic tiles is not only time-taking but, also labour-intensive and cannot be done without a team of professionals. As opposed to this, PRF, made from recycled wood and virgin vinyl is glue-free and can be easily installed by just one, or two people at the max. Also, the fact that it is made from 100% formaldehyde-free material cannot be overlooked here; its eco-friendly nature deserves acknowledgement in this age of synthetic adulteration.

·      Durability

Both vinyl and tiles as flooring options are known for their extreme durability and long life. For PRF, we’re definitely looking at a longer lifespan as compared to normal vinyl as PRF uses water and scratch-resistant technology endowed by the additional crystal ceramic beads coating along with the standard layers of rubber. Furthermore, it is this extra film that gives it a slight sheen which results in a more sleek and pleasant appearance. While tiles are durable, they also tend to chip fairly easily as compared to vinyl.

·      Safety

Coming to the safety of these flooring alternatives, let's take a moment to accept how risky tiles can get if oil or water is spilt on them. If you have children or elder people in your family, things can get extremely risky with these tiles at your disposal. In contrast to this, PRF comes with an anti-slip formula that renders an underfoot feeling and comes with a non-slip bottom layer to prevent people from falling off every slipping on the surface every now and then and making themselves vulnerable to serious injuries. In bathrooms and kitchens especially, you should avoid installing tiles.

·      Cost and appearance

PRF, in particular, creates a sense of continuity in the house; whereas ceramic tiles are obviously individual pieces fitted on the floor. The photographic technology capitalised on by PRF allows it to mimic wooden grains and ceramic in such a way that you will have difficulties in distinguishing them from their original counterparts. When judged from the angle of cost-effectiveness, vinyl flooring appears to be the wiser pick, because depending upon the style you are opting for, ceramic tiles can cost as much as hardwood or high-end carpets. Besides, the installation cost of PRF is also lesser than tiles in most cases.
